IT'S SO HAPPY

Thanks! The garage is even insulated so winter tinkering isn't going to be an issue.

So happy he made a little mess on the floor.

I'm jealous, the wife and I are similarly searching for our forever home. Hopefully one with an attached garage for her car and crafting or whatever and a separate unattached one that I can build into a workshop for cars and stuff and also build an extension for a home gym and sleeping room.

One thing to check for is town bylaws on how much % of your property can be taken up by buildings.

Looking to buy in agriculturely zoned areas. We wants us some land

Gotcha, yeah this was a compromise.
My wife is a city girl so a huge farm in the middle of no where wasn't in the cards. This house is a 15 minute bike ride to the nearest town and it's along the Delaware river so lots of fun stuff to do.
However I get the garage AND I'm a 30 minute hike from a state park that closes for deer season. Granted it's shotgun only hunting but hey, I am within walking distance.

You mean you bought a garage, which happens to come with a free house, right?
![]() 11/18/2014 at 17:53 |

that is pretty awesome. My wife and I are both city folk, but we feel the call to own at least 5 acres to farm, build, etc

So dope. Wish you lived in TN, we could start up the long discarded Land Rover Club again.

Lol that sounds fun.

I've always been more at home in the outdoors than anywhere else. Not really a city guy, which is ironic because I work in NY. Go figure.

You totally have room for 1 more car in there. I'll start looking now.

haha yeah

lol yup, my wife has a 3 series xdrive and I have a X-Type (manual). Thinking of going to something smaller and much older than the x-type. Maybe a MGB or 2z0z or something along those lines.

Classic Z would be cool!

I do really like them, and with a garage I don't have to worry about rust as much.

Exactly.

You may dislike me for this, but check out www.garagejournal.com/forums for some great storage ideas.

When I become a gazillionaire, I will tell my architect I want a garage that comes with a house.

I'm fine with it, my wife will hate you though. Current plans are too buy a heater (already insulated) and install a 1000lb gantry. Who needs a cherry picker?

I cant take my engine out through the top, so not me!

I spend way too much time looking at Garage Journal and daydreaming.

Thanks to them, I bought a few more tools, 2 new toolboxes, a tool cart, and quite a lot more. When I have a garage again, I'm wanting a Wilton bullet vise and a Walker floor jack, as well as some vintage power tools like a drill press and bench grinder.

Awesome, congratulations! Not that there aren't occasional pains in the ass (really, a new furnace? bummer), but I've loved homeownership. Enjoy!
